Our Group Training Classes provide a friendly, relaxed environment for you and your dog to learn in, whilst ensuring that you gain maximum benefit from your time with us through structured training sessions.
Our Family Dog Course is a 5 week course, held for 1 hour a week. The first week is an information session just for owners... the dogs get the day off! During this session we look at how dogs learn, and how they communicate. Dogs rely heavily on visual cues to send and receive information, and so understanding BODY LANGUAGE, both yours and theirs, is a key to successful training. We also look at how your daily interactions with your dog can play a BIG part in modifying undesireable behaviours, and establishing yourself as a calm, clear and consistent LEADER. We look at the subtle changes you can make in your day-to-day living with your dog to help him to understand his role in your family. Lastly we look at simple solutions to some of the common behavioural and training problems that you may be experiencing at home with your dog.
For the next 4 weeks we continue to fine-tune some of the basic canine manners (Sit, Drop, Come, Loose-lead walking etc) using Release Commands to build reliability into your cues, and introduce management skills such as Take It & Leave It and how to Focus on you... not on everything else around you! Our group training environment provides the distractions you need for "proofing" your training in real-life situations. For a fun twist we also teach some TRICKS, so that...

Our Puppy Power Course is all about developing your puppy's basic manners, and building up their confidence during this critical time in their development. We start to build some reliability into the cues of Sit, Drop, Coming when called and basic Loose Lead Walking, and give you the opportunity to practice these in "real world" situations with other puppies and people to distract your puppy. We also have some fun with a puppy obstacle course to build confidence and desensitisation to unusual objects, and calming exercises to enhance puppy handling skills.
It is important to note that this is not an adult obedience class... it is specifically aimed at puppies less than 7 months old, with training styles adapted to meet the abilities (and attention spans!) of these youngsters.
We thoroughly recommend PUPPY PRESCHOOL CLASSES as a first stage of training for puppies under 16 weeks of age. We run Puppy Preschool classes at Brookfield Veterinary Surgery and Monier Veterinary Clinic, both in Brisbane's western suburbs EVERY WEEK!
